
AWS re/Start
This is a 6 months part-time AWS re/Start program, followed by an 6 - 12 months internship. In this program you gain skills you need for an entry-level cloud role through scenario-based learning, hands-on labs, and coursework at our online training session, supplemented with self-study. Also, you’ll focus on social & business skills. You prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification with free access to practice and full exams. After you graduate, we will connect you with employers and help you move into your new working life.

All About AWS re/Start
- You are interested in cloud computing
- You can speak and understand English well
- You are facing barriers entering the IT job market (and can’t access similar programs)
- You are living in Switzerland and you are 18-55 years old
Our program is for candidates of diverse backgrounds who are facing barriers entering the IT job market. The majority of our seats are reserved for people with refugee status.
We encourage women to apply for our program.
- 6 months part-time course as preparation to get the certification as AWS cloud practitioner
- Monthly social & business skills workshops during the program
- Chance to get various interviews for a 6-12 months internship
- Volunteer job coach accompanying you during your internship
- Additional support for laptop, food, and transportation where needed

- You understand, speak and write English well
- You are used to learning independently and can demonstrate this with recently acquired skills

- Availability on Monday and Thursday evenings online, one day per month on site
It’s an advantage (but not required) if additionally:
- You speak the local language (German/French)
- You have work experience
- You have solid IT skills in one field

We strongly encourage you to keep practicing your coding and language skills. We recommend various (free) resources on our Self Learning page. As a preparation for Powercoders AWS re/Start, we suggest focusing on the following topics:
- Language skills in English, as our program will be conducted entirely in English
- Coding Skills with Python or various programming languages (HTML, CSS & JavaScript)
- Cloud services (e.g. AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials)
As part of your application, we expect a well-written and presentable CV. We recommend having a look at CV instructions & examples (by University of St. Gallen).
The Powercoders AWS re/Start is fully funded and free of charge for the selected participants. We cover the costs of the program through support from social assistance (cantons / municipalities) and donations (about half each). Find information for your Social Assistance.
